Pearson is constantly looking to add to our AMAZING team! We are aggressively searching for a forward-thinking, tech-savvy Regional Events and Exhibits Manager responsible for working closely with designated sales markets. In this role one will plan and execute company originated customer events that include lunch and learns, author symposiums, forums, and roadshows. Additional responsibilities will involve planning and activating the state and local industry exhibition and trade show calendar, in support of assigned sales markets. This requires a team player who can take the initiative and jump into projects where needed.

One must have a thorough understanding of meeting and event planning strategies, and is able to maintain a big-picture perspective to keep all moving parts of bringing an event or conference to life! The position demands creativity and energy combined with a high attention to detail and vigilance, building strong business relationships with the sales team to provide support in a fast-moving environment.

To be successful in this role one must demonstrate excellent writing and communications skills, sound judgment, vendor negotiation abilities, and a passion for education and teaching!

This opportunity is located at our Hoboken, NJ or Boston, MA sites.

Here is what you will get to do:

Planning, Implementation & Logistics

  • Work closely with sales account general managers, sales leadership, and marketing teams to design effective models for local events and state trade shows including association conferences, symposiums, forums, and other lead-gen activities

  • Perform all planning aspects of local events and state exhibits requests including venue procurement, exhibit booths reservations, and third party services as needed

  • Coordinate all logistics, equipment and technology needs, facilitate all collateral and product materials, manage catering needs and audio/visual requirements, secure needed promotional items and corporate branded giveaways

  • Integrate elements of technology to enhance the digital customer experience including creation of event supportive apps

Financial

  • Manage vendor payments including necessary deposits and final invoice payment processing; provide budget projections as requested, track metric and ROI information on program effectiveness

  • Produce supporting documentation that event plans are in line with company gifting policies and gain necessary internal approvals to host customer events and activities

Marketing

  • Collaborate with the digital marketing team to schedule, create and launch pre-event e-blasts, RSVP landing pages, and event lead forms for local and state trade shows

  • Design and launch event e-blasts to prospective targeted attendees and landing pages to capture RSVPs for company originated customer events

  • Partner with social media team on building awareness of our local and state events and trade shows through social media channels

Communication

  • Facilitate company originated events and state trade shows pre- and post-event communications with both internal and external clients, including overall event plans and activities, confirmation of attendance at company originated events, post-event debrief, and customer surveys

  • Compile weekly reports and make data-driven recommendations which contribute to engagement strategies and leverage best practices

Qualifications

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required

  • 3 -5 years of successful meetings, events, and exhibits planning experience

  • Ability to travel, including weekends; approximately 25% - 30%

  • Proven success in venue procurement, negotiating contracts, sourcing catering, audio/visual and entertainment vendors

  • Exceptional budget tracking, payment processing, and financial reconciliation experience for events, with an eye for maximizing event budgets to further stretch program dollars

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to lead cross functional teams to keep planning moving

  • Strong project management skills; highly organized with a strong attention to detail

  • Effective interpersonal and collaborative skills; ability to build and develop relationships across levels, including marketing and PR to promote events

  • Progressive thinker; ability to present fresh and unique ideas that engage customers, stays on top of industry trends and brings suggestions to the table for consideration

  • Expertise in event/exhibit application platforms, audio/visual and general technology

  • Proactive approach to troubleshooting and handling issues on event day

  • Highly talented with managing a high volume of work in compacted timelines, multiple priorities, and operating in a demanding work environment, all simultaneously

Additional Plus:

  • Proficiency with Salesforce, Pardot, MS Office and Google Suite apps

  • Knowledge of K-12 Education industry
